more ingenuity

At the hospital:

There is very little covid here, and protective measures are minimal.  Very few folk wear face-masks but we do have them in the hospital when inside a ward.  And we have a handwashing station at the entrance to the hospital.  It started life as a ladder with buckets in it and bars of soap.  It was then upgraded to a trough with water fed from a pipe with holes in it, so the water
supply was constantly fresh.  Still with little bars of soap.

Then in early January we were gifted 900 litres of liquid soap in a pallet mounted container.  Completely impractical for use here, but we bought some empty 10 gallon containers from our friends over at Medicines and Foods for Kids (MFK).  But they were still cumbersome until one of
the security guards cracked the problem for us and after the CPAP machine, another great use of empty coke bottles, tiny hole in the lid!

At the Volunteer Village:

Our newest long termer loves baking and last week she made us brownies (though she said it had to be a dry mix as too many of the ingredients were not available).  It was really good though, and we had them with Tea… a moment of trans-Atlantic harmony.  We didn’t really have the right kitchen gadgets though, so had to adapt (…the ends, justifies the means).
