I’ve had Covid-19 for way over a week, now and I am really bored. It started with a bit of fun, a night away on a nearby deserted tropical island, but then I woke up on Day 2 with a chesty cough. I kept away from the others for the rest of the day, but I guess the damage was done by then, they were either infected or not. I had no other symptoms, other than a bit of self pity.
The boat trip back was fun, a couple of periods drifting whilst the ‘captain’ tried to restart the engine which was giving him trouble. That night I went to bed early, feeling a fever coming on. I got tested the next day, positive for sure, and that was it; confined to barracks. Though I did slip out on Wednesday night for a mercy mission, the less said the better about that. And it is now Tuesday I keep telling myself it’s a mild dose, and really it is, but I’m so tired.
I found something new to do on Saturday, shaved off the beard. It was getting too warm anyway. I’m delighted to say am have been acclaimed as 20 years younger and 20 pounds lighter! I’ll take both of those!
Our Physio managed to catch it, likely from me. But not our fellow long termer. Not sure why that would be, exposed already and been asymptomatic? Anyway as luck would have it he had planned a trip to Miami yesterday to get jab #1 of 2. He is flying back to the UK for the summer and plans to get jab #2 on the way back. As he is a healthcare worker and is going to be working when he gets back, I guess that’s essential. Sent me a photo from Miami though, in McDonalds. Please, give me strength. Could he not have found a decent place to eat…?

Oh no Phil, hope you are OK, saw Siobhan and Mick on Saturday and we were wondering how you were doing out there. Hope you are now over the worst of it, and are feeling better soon. Ginny xx
