I’m safe and well

You will have heard the news already of the devastating earthquake which happened in Haiti yesterday.  Just a brief note to say I’m all good. 

As it happens I’m in Antigua for a few days with No2 son, so it is very much second hand news to me. The quake was centred in the South and we are in the North, as you can see on my map.  So the other volunteers with me are fine and barely felt the effects. Not sure about the rest of the country yet though, news is still emerging with the death toll at 300 as I write, but I expect many more as the buildings are of such poor quality here and medical facilities are pretty sketchy outside of a city.  And with power coming from solar and diesel generators, no water or sanitation systems it doesn’t bode well, I fear.
