the government did me a favour…

Yes, who ever said that?
2 weeks or so ago I was about the plan my trip home with the prospect on 10 days quarantine on return to the UK; when the British Government announced a radical change its Covid Travel Restrictions; only 7 countries remained in its ‘Red List’, all other countries were considered acceptable risk and subject to a ‘Day 2’ Covid test.
Of course, Haiti was one of the 7.
So, a little research and a bit of fast math later, I realised that I could spend 10 days in Caribbean Paradise for less than the cost of the Government approved quarantine scheme. A no-brainer; it was Turks & Caicos Islands and the Bahamas for me.
All booked up and the British Government makes a further change to its Covid Travel Restrictions, and I can come straight home. Urrgh, most of my itinerary is non-refundable due to booking quite late. So I tough it out and fly to Turks & Caicos Islands for a few days.
I had heard it was expensive, though I found reasonable places to stay and eat. The day trips and excursions were very pricey though, all I could afford was the Yot Ride (sic) trip. I didn’t think it sea-worthy so skipped it!
