a woman who does what I say…

It has been unusually lonely so far on this trip. Yes the people have been wonderful and welcoming, there is always someone to talk to, about anything and everything.
It may not be so fancy these days, but I can put 2 SIM cards in my phone. So I have added a SIM for one of the (two) Uganda networks, MTN. I’m here a while, it makes sense. But only now have I finally got my phone to work with EE back in the UK at the same time. It seems that EE partner with the ‘other’ network here, Airtel. Why do I need connectivity back to the UK? Well, its all about security and One Time Password (OTP). You are all familiar with this, you log on to your account somewhere and you get a little message saying they will text an OTP to number ending xxx. A few seconds later the message pops up, and bingo; you are in.
Internet banking, insurance, your VPN (essential for long term travellers, I assure you) and Amazon, to name but a few. And what is an Amazon feature? Alexa. Yes, Alexa! Love her dearly. I tell her what to do; she does it. Never argues. But when I have been trying to link her to wifi her, I keep getting the damn OTP request. The message never comes. Not now though.
“Alexa, add sundried tomatoes and truffle oil to shopping”.
“Alexa, why are refugees in BidiBidi given as little as 40% of the World Food Programme (WFP) recommended basic survival rations?”.

Read the blog today to see how you were getting on out there, all interesting, what sort of homes do people live in the refugee camp? The water situation sounds tough, makes you think we waste so much here. !Just closing a business for having no hot water here! Public health is on a different level there. Keep up the good work Phil
